About Sheila de Vries

The fashion of Sheila de Vries is the result of a discovery excursion. Travelling over de world and in the spirit. Each design is the result of inspiration, which originated by colours, designs, fabrics, fragrances, people, sounds, and music somewhere in the world. It’s in this way that each skirt, dress, blouse or suit has its own story.

The story of Sheila de Vries starts in 1978 when she opens with her husband Tom a workshop annex shop in the middle of Amsterdam, the Jordaan. According to Sheila de Vries her philosophy is that fashion must be nicely, exclusively but also portable and not each woman has a small size.

Sheila de Vries became a well-known name in the Dutch fashion world by the fact that she dressed many well-known female tv- and theatre personalities. She not only dressed Dutch celebrities but also world stars such as Jane Fonda, Barbara Sinatra and a lot of tv-soap stars from the America of the eighties when she was active in America herself.

Travelling goes by, the inspiration continues flow. You can have a look (and buy) at her creations in the shop on the Cornelis Schuytstraat 37. Everything can be made tailored made. A particular chapter in the tale of Sheila de Vries is her designs for queen Beatrix, as from October 2003.
